AS SICKBOY SEES IT
Southbound Sickboy …. Kraków!! Kraków!! Kraków!!! // Day 15

Berlin/Krakow 2. September 2017
Day in Sheriff Laszek Country Road Hotel starts at seven. People been woken by a trompeeter. Person standing on the churchtower and playing tunes on his trumpet.
What a way to start a day! His tunes will blow me over to Kraków smoothy…
Sickboy, my star navigation team and me cycling Southsoutheast now. Following the new course to Svantovit Stele.
There is a drawing made by the Sheriff yesterday. It is being analysed by star navigation team. Showing the landscape from Country Road to Wawel Castel. Looks like waves in the Atlantic. Uphill. Downhill. Uphill. Downhill. Uphill. Downhill in the end to Wisla River.
It looks a bit frightening. But in real life cycling against the waves was far more challenging.
First wave arrived but it was a soft climb over. Pleasure to roll down on the other side. Second wave was a harder way up. Passing through wheat fields. 1 million shadows of yellow and gold to dark brown. Along ten kilometres we found one tree only.
Rolled down and were lifted up again. Over the top and landscape changed. Greener now. Waterflows. Forrest. Shadow and houses. But waves were coming faster. Climbing up one we saw the next climb ahead.
One gear by one Sickboy’s mechanic broke. By the time we started at Sheriff’s place I had 24 gears available to chose from. Half a day later gear count was down to 16. Crawling over wave number eight or nine casualty count was around 13.
When Kraków came insight there were two gears working only. The gearshifter’s disease spread to my knees and legs and spine. Scotty was ordered onto the bridge. His report: the front gears could still be shifted from the middle to the top and back. On the back wheel there is no more function at all. Chain cannot be removed from highest gear.
„Sickboy needs a doctor’s. This is nothing that could be done on the road.“
Stopping on top of the last wave to look at Kraków. We will arrive on schedule. But we will arrive wrecked and sick.
There are friends waiting with 24 pierogi on a huge plate. Can not wait to meet them. I closed my eyes. Rolling downhill highspeed. I trusted Sickboy and star navigation team to find the way to Svantovit bearing point and further to our temporary home. They did…
… Trumpeteer level done…
