Love Łódź. Reminds me of old ol’Berlin the days when I arrived there. Parts are ruined. Huge industry buildings are empty and rotten. In the centre money is invested to start city new.
As headquarter Polonia Palace was chosen. He might have seen better times when wealth and foreigners were brought by textile and film industry.
Remains of the old heyday are the outdated elevator controlled and operated by elderly liftboys. It is running through the middle of hotel’s stairway.
Outside the tram lines passing on the Northsouth and Eastwest route. Opposite site a nice orthodox church is situated. Relaxed place for some calculation and mathmatic.
Captain was asked by star navigation team for a day off road. A map upgrade needed. And the navigation gears had to be shifted. A new calculation for the course done.
Same as Łódź is placed a bit West from Kopernicus‘ meridian, Kraków is built a little too far East.
Decision made – until further notice from the bridge our new bearing points will be Peter and Paul Cathdral and the Wawel Castle.
Kraków meridian is manifested by 12 Apostel errected on 12°20′. 13’s figure on the meridian to be found a little more South. It is a Svantovit stele next to Wawel hill.
The new course and a set of new maps is handed over to the Captain. Maybe the Kraków Łódź ride can be done in one night by sporty people. Our arrival is scheduled for dinner next day.
