AS SICKBOY SEES IT
Southbound Sickboy …. Back on Kopernicus‘ Amber Trail / / Day 21

If the hills North of Kraków were compared with the Atlantic waves, hills and mountains Southward are more alike a stormy Polar Sea. We left after a late morning prayer.
Sickboy forced to climb up allmost vertical.
We had a short lesson learned when we were in Lanckrona two days ago. But without luggage the ride is easy and chatty. A certain weight added really make a difference.
Meter and meter and meter upward hard work done. Thinking what part of the luggage is not needed and to be thrown overboard before the real mountains starting.
Friday’s thesis that Lanckrona is part of Kopernicus Meridian is proven and correct. A tiny chapel is standing on the Meridian. Looking North there is Wisla River and Tychie Abbey in the far distance. A heavy rainshower reminded us to not be too trustful. Up in the mountain temperatures might fall under minus one in the night I was warned.
Racing downhill. Haaaaaaaaaa!!! Next hill been climbed. Vertical up and down. Through the valley testing Sickboy’s top speed. 60 km an hour and counting.
The Amber Route Trekking Trail is passed. Star Navigation suggested to stay on the big road and change onto a small local road later. From here on challenging climbs and high-speed racing again. And again. And again. And again.
The well known glued and fried Doner meat Burger for late lunch. Plus fries. Plus Pepsi. Plus Nestle Ice cream desert. HAPPS!
Journey continues uphill. Heavy storm sea mountains. Sickboy stopped rolling. Road construction works blocking the way. Street changed into a stony chaos. Asphalt lays open. Road unskinned. Our climb blocked by huge stones and Broker asphalt. Brain closed. It went nasty. And painful. And dirty.
Sickboy needed to be transported uphill. And on the pass thrown into the ditch and cheated at. But arsehole cycle still smiling. Star Navigation Team on his side. From the pass on an asphalted road helped us downhill.
First day in the mountains allways a piece of shite… lol …. But …. tommorrow … YALLA!!!…. we will roll pleasant and faithful over passes and rivers.
Day ended in the Pension Marysenka in Zawoja. Best place to stay in town. Highly recommended by all our team members.
THANKS to MISTER „Ninty miles an hour, girl, is the speed I drive“ SICKBOY!!! My old shipmate… 🙂
